Been Busy
I’ve been experimenting with ways to expand Pact of the Lantern. At the start I began with a fairly straightforward story, but, to put it bluntly, it bored me to tears. I think I would rather explore the deeper mythology of what I established in the original short story than try to extend it into a full novel.
Writing is an ongoing process of experimentation and self-recrimination and doubt. Lots and lots of doubt. There’s an ugly little homunculus in my brain that I have named Doubt. Whenever I get an idea that I like, he sticks his dick in my frontal lobe.
My search for submission calls is also ongoing. There’s an anthology looking for stories about scarecrows, but that isn’t due till October. Nearer is a podcast looking for dinosaur stories. Might give that a go.
